What is Sealcoating?

Sealcoating pavement is similar to painting a house in an effort to protect the asphalt from the sun, heavy traffic or oil spills. The process involves spraying an asphalt or coal-tar emulsion to help protect the asphalt from the elements. Sealcoating is a structural repair vs. a cosmetic process. All cracks must be repaired prior to the sealcoating process.

How long does sealcoating last?

In general, 3-4 years or when it appears to look "dry". It is not recommended to surface too often unless there is increased traffic and/or exposure to the weather.

Can you sealcoat in the winter?

The recommended minimum temperature for sealcoating application is 50 degress Fahrenheit and have to remain above 50 degrees throughout the application process.
